Specialty Spray Systems is a full-service Division 7 contractor specializing in multiple types of thermal and moisture protection services for our clients’ construction projects.
Every year, since launching Specialty Spray in 2007, we have seen growth in our company. We now serve clients across the United States, Puerto Rico, and throughout the Caribbean. In addition, we continue to add to our list of services in order to better serve our clients and their needs. Progress is essential to us, so that we can provide the most innovative solutions that can give maximum protection while meeting client budgetary parameters.
Each of our principal team members began his career in the field and has worked his way up performing all aspects of the services we offer. Accordingly, we have a deep and thorough understanding of this industry, and how best to serve our clients. Specialty Spray Systems is also an active member of the Associated Builders and Contractors. Our membership with A.B.C. is key in providing our team members with ongoing education as well as opportunities to network with our customers and participate in numerous charity events.
Scott Sellers (President)
A Georgia native, Scott was born in Columbus but most of his time has been spent living right here in the Atlanta area. His formal education led him to attend Lyman Ward Military Academy in Camp Hill, AL and R.L. Osborne High School in Marietta, GA. After high school he was accepted to the Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California.
Once his time in Hollywood was complete, he had the opportunity to follow his dream of being a touring & recording drummer in several well known rock bands. “Traveling and playing all over the world was a boyhood dream of mine. I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything” says Scott.
The birth of Specialty Spray Systems began early in 2007. After the company he had worked for closed its doors. Scott had a conversation with his Grandfather about starting his own business. After much debate Scott’s grandfather gave him a check for $4,500 to buy his first machine with along with the words “I believe in you”. SSS was born.
The words “I believe in you” are what propel Specialty Spray Systems forward. “Knowing that you company believes in you and supports you means the world to those who are on the receiving end of that encouragement. Those words have certainly changed my life” says Scott.
Always pushing the limits to what is possible not just in business but in personal areas as well, Scott has achieved the rank of second degree black belt’s in Ryukyu Kempo & Jujitsu along with a first degree black belt in Small Circle Jujitsu. Most of his time now can be found running marathons, triathlons & obstacle races along with golf and pretty much anything outdoors.
As far as the future goes, “My ultimate goal is to create a foundation that will allow me to build an institution that can teach and create the entrepreneurs of tomorrow because entrepreneurs are the solution to most of the world’s problems I believe” says Sellers.
Scott now lives in Woodstock, GA with his wife Heather. They travel to new and exciting parts of the world every chance they get.
Mike Downs (Chief Financial Officer)
Mike Downs, born in Las Vegas, Nevada, was raised in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains about an hour north of Atlanta, Georgia. Mike began working at a young age and has always had a thirst for learning.
After attending North Forsyth High School, Mike graduated from the University of North Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Mathematics.
Mike later attended Keller Graduate School of Management (DeVry University) where he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Accounting and Financial Management (MAFM). Mike joined Scott Sellers at Specialty Spray Systems Technologies, LLC in May of 2016, where he assumed the responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer. After working for more than 16 years in commercial construction accounting, Mike obtained his CPA in February of 2020.
ExpandMike is married to the love of his life and they are raising two beautiful children together. As the years continue to accumulate, Mike hopes to prioritize more time for traveling with his wife, boating at sunset, and relaxing in the hot tub.
Madison Boswell: : (Estimator)
Madison has spent her entire adult life in pursuit of solving problems and helping people. After graduating college, Madison worked at SCCDC for 5 years where she gained numerous amounts of knowledge in medicine, working independently, and patient relations. She began her career in the medical field where she received her medical assistant and superficial radiation therapy certifications.
These same qualities came with her when she began at Specialty Spray Systems. As a project estimator, her ability to work with people and find solutions to often complex problems are one of her best assets. Madison assists our customers with value engineering, budget analysis and fixed bid pricing.
Madison lives in Calhoun, GA with her husband Cameron, where they enjoy spending time with family and volunteering within the community.
